One of the main advantages of the ubiquitous NFT (non-fungible tokens) is that such a phenomenal invention has helped legitimize the work of digital artists. The (much more perverse) flip side of NFTs is that they have an absolutely terrible impact on the environment. Not in vain, the "cryptomining" associated with the Ethreum platform that makes NFTs possible consumes almost 26.5 terawatt hours per year (close to the annual consumption generated by a country like Ireland with 5 million inhabitants). For this reason, and as a prelude to Earth Day, which is celebrated on April 22, the Mischief agency has decided to sink its teeth into NFTs to try to stop the corrosive environmental impact of this technology on the already battered planet Earth.
Mischief has decided to put his own NFT up for auction: “MeowMint”. The agency's auction is specifically aimed at advertisers, to whom he promises not only ownership of "MeowMint" but Phone Number List also a "great idea" from his team. Whoever manages to win the auction organized by Mischief will be treated to half a day of work from the agency's creativity and strategy teams with the ultimate goal of finding a solution to a business problem. With its unique Mischief campaign it aims to highlight the work that agencies provide to their clients . “An NFT is a way to represent something unique,” explains Darrin Patey, creative technologist at Mischief. “So we thought, why can't an NFT represent an idea?” he adds.
Mischief's campaign also aims to raise awareness about the damage that NFTs inflict on the planet. And that's why all the proceeds raised from the "MeowMint" auction will go entirely to Green NFT Bounty, an organization that actively seeks to make Blockchain technology greener. “There is a very relevant conversation happening around the environmental impact of NFTs in particular and Blockchain technology in general ,” says Patey. “There will be improvements from the point of view of the eco-efficiency of this technology, but such improvements are not here yet and all those experimenting in this field should take this matter very seriously,” he emphasizes. However, if Mischief is trying to fight the pollution generated by NFTs, why is he jumping on the bandwagon of this trend? Is he just exacerbating the problem by shining his own NFT.
